412.5 MWp Ground Mounted Solar Project

With Acciona Energía's subsidiary, Juna Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd., Waaree Renewable Technologies

Client Overview

With Acciona Energía's subsidiary, Juna Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd., Waaree Renewable Technologies (WRTL) commissioned a 412.5 MWp/335 MW AC ground-mounted solar power plant in Kawani village, Bikaner district, Rajasthan. Spread across an area of 1,400 acres, the installation involved 750,000 mono-crystalline bifacial modules with horizontal single-axis trackers. The project features a 220 kV substation, designed to facilitate the smooth evacuation of power, supplying approximately 51.5 million units of clean energy each month. Installed in nine months, this EPC project highlights Waaree RTL's ability to commission large-scale high-performing solar infrastructure, while facilitating India's renewable energy objectives through speedy implementation and the integration of innovative technologies.

Challenges Faced

The project encountered extreme desert conditions, including high-temperature swings, shifting sandy terrain, and frequent sandstorms that compromised visibility and solar efficiency. These environmental and logistical challenges demanded resilient, precise engineering to ensure stable, high-yield operations.

Why Did They Choose Waaree

Acciona's Juna Renewable business chose Waaree RTL based on its documented experience in high-capacity utility-grade solar EPC, harsh terrain-specific engineering, nine-month fast track delivery, and integrations such as automated cleaning and sun-tracking to optimise performance and yield.

Our Approach

Solutions Implemented

WRTL commissioned a turnkey 412.5 MWp DC/335 MW AC solar plant spread over 1,400 acres of Rajasthan's desert, using 750,000 bifacial modules mounted on horizontal single-axis trackers. To resist harsh temperatures (0–50 °C), rugged weather-proven modules were employed. Foundations were created using specially designed modular engineering to combat sandy, moving ground. Robotic cleaning systems prevented sand deposition, and HSAT systems provided maximum solar exposure throughout the day. A 220 kV substation supported a monthly evacuation of 51.5 million units of clean energy. Waaree offered a two-year asset management package with predictive maintenance, real-time performance monitoring, and output optimisation services, guaranteeing long-term ROI and plant reliability. This end-to-end implementation showcases Waaree RTL's ability to engineer and maintain high-capacity solar assets in challenging environmental conditions.

Outcome

The Acciona Juna Renewable project in Bikaner now generates a strong 412.5 MWp solar capacity over 1,400 acres with 750,000 bifacial modules optimised through HSAT tracking. It now produces an average of 51.5 million kilowatt-hours per month, which comes in handy as a regional clean energy supply. The durability in harsh desert environments was attained through temperature-tested modules, module engineering bases, and robotic cleaning systems to support ongoing output. An exclusive two-year asset management program integrating real-time monitoring and optimisation guarantees ongoing performance and ROI. Finished in nine months, this project is a testament to Waaree RTL's engineering, construction, and management leadership of extensive, high-yielding solar facilities in adverse environmental conditions.
