Solar Panels

Capacity – 412.5 MWp
Project Type – GROUND MOUNT SOLAR POWER PROJECT
Location: Bikaner, Rajasthan
Year Of Commissioning: 2025

Project Overview

Waaree Energies successfully completed a large-scale solar EPC project with a total capacity of 412.5 MWp in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Spread across 1,400 acres, the project involved the installation of 7.5 lakh 550Wp mono-crystalline bifacial solar modules, marking a significant contribution to India’s renewable energy expansion. Despite the remote location and challenging terrain, the project was commissioned within just nine months, demonstrating Waaree’s exceptional execution capabilities. A 220 kV substation was established on-site to facilitate power evacuation, enabling the distribution of approximately 51.5 million units of clean energy every month to the grid.

Project Challenges

Despite the scale and urgency, the project site presented numerous environmental and logistical hurdles:

  1. Extreme Climate Conditions – Temperatures soared up to 50°C in summer and dipped to 0°C in winter, impacting equipment and manpower.
  2. Difficult Terrain – The shifting desert sands and unstable soil structure created complications for mounting and anchoring systems.
  3. Frequent Sandstorms & Low Visibility – Regular sandstorms led to accumulation of dust on modules, reducing efficiency and requiring continuous maintenance.

Technological Innovations & Solutions

To overcome these challenges, Waaree employed a range of innovative techniques and expert solutions:

  1. Weather-Resilient Modules- Waaree’s high-efficiency mono-crystalline bifacial modules were rigorously tested for extreme temperature fluctuations, ensuring maximum output and durability under harsh weather.
  2. Customized Structural Engineering – A team of in-house structural experts designed specialized modular foundations to tackle the loose and shifting desert terrain, enabling secure and stable installations across the site.
  3. Automated Cleaning Systems – To address sand accumulation and visibility issues, automated robotic cleaning systems were installed. These ensured regular maintenance without relying heavily on manual labor, maintaining optimal performance.
  4. Horizontal Single Axis Tracking (HSAT) – The project integrated HSAT systems to track the sun’s movement throughout the day, significantly enhancing solar irradiation capture and boosting energy production.

Asset Management Services

A comprehensive 2-year Asset Management service to ensure the continued high performance of the site. Key highlights:

  1. Dedicated maintenance team for predictive, preventive and corrective measures
  2. Performance monitoring systems for real-time data tracking
  3. Output optimization services ensuring maximum yield and ROI for the client

Conclusion

This project is a testament to Waaree’s capability to deliver large-scale, high-efficiency solar solutions even under the most extreme conditions. By combining engineering excellence, robust project management, and advanced technology, Waaree has not only contributed significantly to India’s clean energy goals but also set a new benchmark for solar EPC execution in desert environments.
